Such a pleasure to see Contrast at The Carlisle, Hastings, last night. A "tight" group, played with skilful rhythm by the bass Mathew Stanley and drummer Richard Sage. Lead singer and guitar, James Dand, led the way with his energetic playing and has great "presence" on stage. Beautiful guitar work. I shall sit back and listen to the CD, "Right Equation" that I bought last night at the Gig and reflect on the great night I had. Thanks. From the ol' git over in the corner, Nobby.(1066 scooter club function, Hastings, 13th August 2005 - Contrast's last gig)

Over the last couple of years I've seen many great new "mod influenced" bands. The scene is indeed healthier than it's been for many a year. None have impressed me more than the Kent band "Contrast". They were one of the star acts at Portsmouth's Mod Aid 20 concert and impressed not only me but the audience with three of their own compositions "Time Machine" "Just Do It" and "Shout It Out".  Not only sound good but look the part as well.  Watch out for 'em they're going places! - John Hellier, Wapping Wharf Records / co author (with Paul Weller) of  'Here Come The Nice' Small Faces book. ('Come Together' - Portsmouth, June 05)

The whole range of their CD is covered faultlessly by their set and, I can see how with a full audience why these guys have built up such a strong reputation for their gigs. I’m looking forward to seeing them again soon. - DWW (River Bar, May 05)
